how to measure for your costume

TIPS FOR MEASURING
  • Measure over a form-fitting garment such as a leotard or biketard.
  • Be consistent. Have the same person measure the entire group.
  • The tape measure should be snug. Do not pull tightly or add inches to your measurements.
  • Measurements must be accurate to determine correct size.

  • Torso Girth A

    Place tape measure starting at the center of the shoulder down the torso, through legs, up the back, meeting the tape measure at the shoulder. This is one of the most important measurements for determining leotard, unitard and biketard size.

  • Bust B

    Stand with arms down and measure around the torso at the fullest part of back and bust.

  • Waist C

    Measure around the narrowest part of natural waistline. To find you natural waist: bend to the side. Where a crease forms is your natural waistline.

  • Hips D

    With feet together measure the fullest part of your hips.

  • Skirt Length E

    Measure from the natural waist to top of the kneecap along the side of the body. To find you natural waist: bend to the side. Where a crease forms is your natural waistline.

  • inseam F

    Measure from inside the upper leg from crotch to the floor.

Tips for determining sizes

  • When your measurements are between sizes, size up!  Alterations are more difficult when the garment is too small rather than too large. This will be dependent on the garment so contact us with any questions.
  • If you are ordering a full body garment  such as a leotard or biketard, consider a short, regular, or long torso. We offer long torsos on most of our dresses, unitards, leotards and biketards on the website. Generally, long torsos may be needed when measurements are 2" or more over the size. Please note: Styles with a very open back can typically account for anyone that is over a torso measurement by 2-3".
  • If the waist measurement is 2" or more over the size, consider a wide waist. Please note: styles with a very open back or stomach cutouts, can typically account for anyone that is over a waist measurement by 2-3".
  • If you are ordering a separate top and bottom, base your sizing on your Bust measurement for the top and Waist and Hip measurements for your bottom.
  • For bra tops and crop tops with bra bands, we offer full and X-full sizing. A full should be used for C/D bra cup sizes and an X-full should be used for bra cup sizes larger than a D.
  • Our garments are meant to be form-fitting and hug the body. If your size on our chart is different than your typical streetwear size - that's ok! Our sizes tend to run smaller. If your measurements exceed our chart, that's absolutely fine! We can make a custom size based on your measurements.
  • Child or adult size? Determining whether to place someone in a child size or adult size can sometimes be tricky! Child body types are typically more square shape in comparison to adult body types. The bust and waist measurements are typically similar for child sizes, along with a shorter torso girth.
